Dishonored- the rise of one more Epic Game series. Start of the game was kinda slow , but with the advent of the Outsider , things got interesting . The Game elements show close resemblance to Bioshock , but the story and other aspects of the Dishonored keeps it distinct from Bioshock. The prime one being the Stealth Mode.The game can be played in two ways - go on a blood thirsty killing spree and complete the game in 6-8 hrs straight or if you are distant relative of Agent 47  and like to keep things clean , enter stealth mode and crawled through the game finding alternative paths and getting things done in as Dishonored says "Non-Lethal " way.

Alan Wake Review -Hands ON !

Remedy Entertainment - the Studio behind the legendary Max Payne series (Atleast  Max Payne 1 and Max  Payne 2 is Epic, God knows what Rockstar will do with Max Payne 3) , is back after nearly a decade and believe me, you won't be disappointment for sure.Grab a torch and a revolver, and get ready to experience this awesome Psychological Thriller.

Story : Before I start with anything , Sam Lake take a bow.The author behind Max payne 1,2 plot, has pen down another brilliant story.The Story is about an author Alan Wake who  is on a vacation with his wife.Strange things begin to happen in the town, Alan's wife is missing and Alan is caught in a story of light versus dark.Since it is a thriller cannot afford to write in more detail or you will come running to gun me down.

Looks : Most of the actual gameplay scenes are set at nightime.The environments are really nice and spooky.The dark forest, the narrow pathway, the safe light havens ,even the scene of strong wind blowing and the blurriness on arrival of taken will really set you in the mood summing up the Alan wake experience.The basic theme of the game - Light v/s Darkness effects are beautifully executed.

Gameplay : How often we use torch,flashlight,flares and flash bangs (duh talk about grenades,smoke/stun grenades) in games, err very little.But here , that is your primary weapon - source of light and batteries- your ammunition.Irritating thing about the game is camera angle (why Remedy why :( ).Rest, showering the taken(enemies) with light ,still their darkness runs out and you get to gun them with revolver or shotgun.The game offers no melee combat choice.So either fight wisely or run to the nearest light zone -known as safe heaven (Aptly named , when you reached there (checkpoints) , you feel like reaching heaven ).So a different style of gameplay ,mysterious ,freaky and enjoyable at the same time.Only game where you will get overwhelmed on finding a flash bang :P

Audio : The audio effects elevate the spooky theme of the game.The sound effects are nice, but I expected more for a game like this.Also the soundtracks after end of each episode are nice too.


Overall Rating : 8.2/10

The reason why I am not updating this blog daily=> Have been busy gaming for last few days, and it still going to continue.After seven horrible months from the death of my beloved old 8800GT , finally got a rightful successor to it.So since last week I am just lost into Assassins Creed Revelations, Skyrim and much more (reviews coming soon).

Max Payne 2 Revisited

It was has been a week since Rockstar leaked/made available the Max Payne 3 gameplay trailer. Though am still against the overall changes made in the plot,overall feel and portrayal of Max Payne in this latest installment, still I couldn't keep my eyes off the 3 minute trailer.

The Bullet time dodge,shooting, tactics and overall gameplay was really awesome.So great, that I was having strong urge to play the supposed best third person shooter game series at that very moment.

Since Rockstar are still toying with the PC release date of Max Payne 3, I had to rely on Max Payne 2.

And last three days whatever time I was getting , I played the same.

Except the graphics part(that too a little) , it never occur to me that I was playing some eight years old game.First time I played Max Payne 1 and 2 when I was in school.And now, after a long gap (Now I started working) I still say it was it is one of the best games I played till now. The main gameplay ( yaa, the VVVIMP - gameplay factor which is missing in lot of recent games today) ,weapons,slow motion bullet time (My favourite :) ) the story, the characters,their portrayal, and the   awesome chemistry between Max and Mona - this game is an AWESOME !!!!

The greatest game series of all time.The most entertaining, hyped, awesome, scandalous game ever is coming back.Grand Theft Auto 5 which has been rumoured to be set in America itself is going to unleashed itself with debut trailer launching on 2nd November,2011. Seriously, this news is going to spread like fire in the world.There will be hardly any gamer on this planet (even in the universe, even aliens will play this legendary game) who has not played any of the GTA games.I myself have played all games except GTA1.Planning to play that one soon too ;)


So waiting for 2nd November 2011 , to get glimpse of the future of gaming - GRAND THEFT AUTO 5

Assassin's Creed: Revelations-Bombing Time

        Ubisoft -IGN has released a new video in the trailer series - "Secrets of the Ottoman Assassins". In the first episode , we witness the new weapon - hookblade with hook in shape of Eagle. In the latest Episode number 2, we catch a glimpse of demolition aspect of ACR - Bombing time.
Unlike the single smoke bombs we had in earlier AC games, ACR gonna present three new ategory of bombs - tactical,lethal and diversionary .


Tactical - 
Caltrop bomb - Spike bombs
Pyrite Coin bomb - The same throwing coins thing we had in AC2 and ACB , nothing extraordinary.


Diversionary-
Smoke Signal Bombs - Again imported from earlier AC games
Cherry Bomb


Lethal -
Splinter bomb - Much needed explosive stuff when things get wrong n guards go crazy after you


Besides,you can make your own bombs (No need of Leonardo :P :P ) , just with help of three ingredients - Shell, Gun powder and Effect.This ingredients are scattered throughout the city. So new bombs, combination expreriments , all alowed for example Tripwire Spinter bomb which works like a modern mine.

Assassins Creed Revealations- Unlock the Animus

Mysterious Assassin's Creed site goes live

Assassin Creed Revelations is one month away , revealing it all on 15th November,2011.Yaa, PC version is delayed to 2nd December,2011  and I am also pissed off about it.But I hope the wait will be worth it.AC fans all around the globe are all excited for it.Still Ubisoft hypes it more  by teaming with CVGs and throwing a competition.
If you are victorious in the final unlock the animus challenge, you will receive a fantastic trip to Istanbul for yourself and a friend, including flights, four nights of hotel accommodation and £500 spending money and a chance to tour the beautiful and historic Constantinople of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods.
But who cares for the prize, we gamers are more interested in trying out the mysteries of the Assassins.The final challenge will be on 8th November.But before that each week we have to unlock each of the 5 strands respectively

Portal 2 Review (Single Player)

"I think we can put our differences behind us....for science you monster"

       After the great success of portal, valve corporation is back again with portal 2.And believe me, portal 2 lives upto the expectation.But before jumping into portal 2, be sure to get pass with portal 1 complete.

Story: Portal 2 takes place long undefinite years after first game.Chell (protoganist) is woken by a bot call Wheatey n both try to escape the aperture labs.But unknowingly they bring Glados back to life.Rest that follows is quite obvious -Testing begins !

The story is simple with few twists and explores the mystery abt the aperture lab n infact glados to large extent.Still uniqueness of portal series lies in its dark evil humour.

 

Looks : The graphics are really better with the advanced version of the source engine.Although portal is not game relying heavily on graphics, some visual effects and especially the pre rendered videos are a feast to watch.

Gameplay : The basic gameplay is same as portal 1.The whole game involves use of only one  harmless but very useful weapon- portal gun.Besides, the puzzles are improved in portal 2, and some levels are really tricky.

 

Portal 2 also got some new stuff to add variations in gameplay such as hi tech walkable pathway,attractive n repulsive force field, gels- bouncing gels,speedy gel,portal surface gel and ofcourse more turrets.Portal 2 promises addictive gameplay and does stresses ur brain nerves to a large extent(Literally,My friend got fainted after playing sum level)

Audio : Portal series thrives on audio.Seriously 10/10 for the audio.May it be dumb dialogues of Wheatey,or evil humorous quotes of glados or even the nonsense quotes of turrets,cores etc, everything is just awesome.

Overall,Portal 2 is must play game ONLY after you play portal 1.Respect to Valve for such a splendid creation of the portal universe.
